To all members of the scrutiny committee. Confirmation that you have received this email would be appreciated.
On Thursday evening at 19:00, the Thanet District Council scrutiny committee will be scrutinising the Council cabinet's decision to sell the Pleasurama site in Ramsgate.
I will be unable to attend the meeting (I have 3 year old twins who are potty training.)
Yesterday having discovered the date of the meeting I attempted to telephone all of you in order to see if there was anything that could be done about the cabinets decision. I am afraid that in most cases I was unable to contact you.
Mostly I wanted to explain that I had written to the cabinet members asking some questions about inconsistencies in the planning documents that I didn’t understand and hadn’t been granted the courtesy of a reply.
The most positive and helpful telephone call I made was to Cllr. Ian Gregory as the estates manager to the hospital he has the advantage over most of us in that he is used to reading and interpreting planning documents.
I was surprised to learn that he was unaware of the revisions that had been made to the plans on 6th of Jan 2004 and therefore hadn’t looked at them.
I was also surprised that he was unaware that the picture of the unsightly corrugated tin roofs standing above the top of the cliff had been produced by the developer’s architects and not by people protesting against the development.
It occurred to me that you might also have not seen the revised plans so I have taken the liberty of attaching a couple of cross-sections from the plans to this email.
Should you wish to view the rest of the plans I have published them at the following internet address
http://www.michaelsbookshop.com/seafront/revised_ground_floor_plan.htm should the link not work you can paste it into your browser.
I you prefer the official government site address is http://www.ukplanning.com/thanet and the planning application number is F/TH/03/1200 you will however need a pdf file viewer installed on your computer to use the official site.
I am sure that having looked at the plans you will see the inconsistencies between the written part and the drawings and be able to ask the right questions on my behalf or possibly be able to answer them.
Should you either fail to get the pictures of the cross-sections from the plans or if I can help you in any other way don’t hesitate to contact me either by email or by phone between 9.30 am and 5 pm.
Kind regards Michael Child.
